
CRACK INVESTIGATION OF STAINLESS STEEL
CLAD FOR VACUUM FLASHER
A 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using brick elements was performed
for stainless steel internal attachments of a carbon steel Vacuum
Flasher. This analysis determined the causes for crack initiation
and propagation in the vicinity of the welded area and simulated
the welding processes for all the internal attachments. This analysis
also determined the affect of pre-heat on the state of stresses
and strains.
