
Barry Heuer is the Chief Metallurgist and Welding Engineer
with Optimum Engineering Solutions. Barry has 36 years of experience
in the fabrication of pressure vessels and heat exchangers. He
was the Chief Metallurgist and Welding Engineer for Nooter Corporation
before joining Openso.
Barry is familiar with the following materials: carbon steels
(both ASME and ASTM), low alloy steels (C-Mo, Cr-Mo, C-Mn-Mo),
quenched and tempered steels, high alloy steels, all forms of
stainless steels (austenitic, martensitic, ferritic, duplex and
precipitation hardening), nickel base alloys such as Nickel 200,
Monel 400, Inconel 600, Inconel 601, Inconel 617, Inconel 625,
Inconel 686CPT, Inconel 690, VDM Alloy 59, most of the Hastelloy
family of alloys, 6 molybdenum alloys such as AL6XN, titanium
grades 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, and other Ruthenium/Palladium variations,
Zirconium grades 702 and 705 and Tantalum (both pure and with
2.5% Tungsten).
Barry has fabricated equipment with any commercially available
clad material. He was responsible for the welding procedures for
Titanium, Zirconium and Tantalum clad pressure vessels and heat
exchangers for 25 years. He has been involved with the fabrication
and repair of continuous as well as batch paper digesters.
He has experience in the following codes: ASME - SECTIONS I, III,
VIII (DIVISIONS 1,2&3), AWS - D1.1, 14.6, ANSI - B31.1, B31.3,
AWWA, TUV, MOL, HPGCL, DNV and AS1210. Barry has professional
affiliations with the following: American Welding Society -- Since
1970, American Society For Testing and Materials 1983-2001,
ASM International -- Since 1967, Technical Association for the
Pulp & Paper Industry -- Since 1990 and ASME Section VIII Materials
and Sub-Group Non-Ferrous Alloys -- From 1997 to 2001.
